LabelThis wineglass is unlike the other "Amen" glasses in the Museum's collection in that it has an incised-twist stem. This type of stem enjoyed a brief period of popularity in the mid-eighteenth century. It is an imitation of the air-twist stem, but instead of trapping air within the stem before it is drawn out, the incised lines are applied to the exterior.* Works in the collection are moved off view for many different reasons. Although gallery locations on the website are updated regularly, there is no guarantee that this object will be on display on the day of your visit. |
